What "Global Warming" Really Means

Study says humans not heating up the planet

A new peer-reviewed study disputes the claim of former Vice President Al Gore and other green activists that global warming is caused by human activity and constitutes a "planetary emergency."

The study -- conducted by climate scientists at the University of Rochester, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia -- finds that atmospheric warming patterns, or "fingerprints," over the last 30 years are not caused by greenhouse gas emissions. The report is published in the December issue of the International Journal of Climatology. Results from the study greatly contradict the findings of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Dr. S. Fred Singer, professor emeritus of environmental science at the University of Virginia -- and president of the Science and Environmental Policy Project -- says he is "fairly" sure that the current warming trend is due to changes in the activities of the sun. "The sun is constantly active, emitting particle streams that carry magnetic fields; and they in turn have an influence on the climate of the earth," he says.

Singer says he and other global warming skeptics have grown accustomed to claims that they are beholden to the oil and gas industry. "Of course that's not only untrue, but it's completely immaterial," says Singer. "In other words, we are using the data that is furnished by the IPCC. They are published, we use only published work. What we are basically doing is to make a comparison of model results and observations."

The report concludes that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant and therefore "attempts to control CO2 emissions are ineffective and pointless -- but very costly."

Global warming is not invention of Al Goar. Countless scientists all over the planet warned us for many years about this. When Al Gaor became vocal about this whole issue, it became imparative for the present administration to attack anything that he says. The big oil has played a role in underplaying the idea of global warmning. As far as Global Warming is concerned it is here and we are dealing with it right now. What we have to see here is that how much impact and how much distruction we are ready to ignore to keep saying that "No" it does not exist!!

I'm just glad that people like Kyle, who are very naive and old-fashioned about these kind of issues, are in the minority. While they continue to plug their ears, stomp their feet, and scream for everyone to look at them, us productive, like-minded people will be busy getting things done.

Just because something is published does not make it right... take the National Inquirer as an example. When almost 90% of the world's scientific society is in admission that global warming is a serious problem, logic says that the 10% is wrong...and isn't logic what people like you base everything off, Kyle?

I'm not going to lie, I'm aware that global warming is most likely a NATURALLY OCCURANCE, but one which has been exacerbated and deeply intensified by human frivolousness and disregard. The atmosphere fluctuates, but never before has it changed so drastically so fast. Even before the ice age, it took several hundred years for the climate to change, not in the timeframe of about 50, which is the case here.

If you're going to pride yourself on logic, you'd better practice what you preach. Even when all signs point to a clear and definite fact, there will still be people looking the other way despite all the proof. An example being creationists ignoring evolutionary fact and refuting scientific reason. They mask this by claiming Evolution is a theory...yes, but a "scientific theory", which is next to fact. The same is the case here. There is global warming, just those too closed-minded to accept information.

PS. In before Kyle saying I'm a liberal, CNN-worshiping follower...which is his basic argument for everything. :P

Trevor, you being a liberal has nothing to do with it. The fact that you are mentally unable to determine anything for yourself and instead have to be spoon-fed information from anyone who decides to call them self an "expert" does. The "warming phenomenon" that has recently phased into a "cooling phenomenon" (since 1998) was experienced by every planet in our solar system. Most independent scientists have reported that solar activity is the main cause and it is acknowledged that CO2 emissions do not contribute. Think about how huge our atmosphere is, and then imagine what we actually contribute to that atmosphere. Our contribution is minuscule and unlikely to cause any sort of change whatsoever. In fact, the carbon emissions deal has been pushed by the United Nations and globalists (hoping for a world carbon tax), Big Oil (green movements driving oil prices and profits up), and the leftist media that has its own agenda (scaring you for votes).

Where did Kyle get this information? Was he spoon-fed by CNN?

I say "Amen" to Trev. And what's the big deal if we want to help our environment, even if "global warming isn't happening". I agree with Trevor, but to those who don't agree with global warming, I say to you...Whatev. Just take care of this planet, because it is all we've got. RESPECT.
